John A. Stephens
John A. Stephens of McKinney, Texas passed away June 11, 2012 at the age of 92.
He was born October 6, 1919 to William Stephens and Minnie (Erwin) Stephens in Melissa. He attended schools in Melissa.

John served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the 36th Division, 141st infantry as a technical sergeant. John received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star in North Africa, Italy and European Theaters.

He married Billy Doyce Jeanes on December 23, 1946 in Anna.

John worked in equipment sales with International Harvester in McKinney for 40 years before retiring in 1988. He also enjoyed attending the 36th Division reunions and was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his sons, Gene A. "Butch" Stephens and wife Georgia of Ft. Worth, James "Rusty" Stephens and wife Andrea of McKinney; granddaughters, Stacy Olson and husband Scott of Carrollton, DaLaine Donaldson and husband Jason of Paradise, Jeralyn Stephens of Denver; grandson, Stephen Messick and wife Jennifer of Burleson; great-grandchildren, Madison, Tucker, Jacob, Cory; brother, Robert L. Stephens of Melissa; several nieces and nephews and other family relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Billy Doyce Stephens; parents, William and Minnie Stephens; brothers, Louis, Clyde and Wilbur; sister, Kathleen and an infant brother.

The family would like to thank Redbud House of McKinney for their care.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Dr. Danny Buster officiating. Interment is to immediately follow the service. The family will receive friends during a remembrance gathering on Friday evening beginning at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
