Child drowns in Mesquite

One child is dead in an apparent drowning Saturday afternoon at a Mesquite apartment complex.
At 1:08 Saturday afternoon, the Mesquite Police Department received a call of a drowning victim at the Mission Ranch Apartments located at 901 US Hwy 80 in Mesquite. While en route, the officers were given information that CPR was in progress on the victim.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers and MFD paramedics found that a five year old boy was unconscious.
The child was transported to the Dallas Regional Medical Center at Galloway. After attempted of resuscitation failed the child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The child's name is being withheld at this time pending notification of family.
