The runoff election for Place No. 5 on the Mesquite City Council ended Saturday, June 23, with a familiar face claiming victory. Greg Noschese defeated incumbent Brian Hutcheson with 57.13 percent of the votes.
Noschese is a former councilmember that initially resigned the position to pursue the Republican nomination for the state house. Noschese was defeated in the Republican primary by current state representative Cindy Burkett.
Noschese has served on the Mesquite Quality of Life Corporation board, the Mesquite Education foundation board and also the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce board.
Noschese and Hutcheson were forced into the runoff after neither could secure the required votes to win the council seat outright during the joint election in May.
