Ralph Hall easily wins District 4 race

U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall of the Fourth Congressional District of Texas easily beat out two opponents in Tuesday's Republican primary.
Hall of Rockwall received a total of 38,125 votes, or 58.34 percent. Steve Clark, also of Rockwall, received 13,701 votes or 20.97 percent, and Lou Gigliotti of Wylie got 13,513 votes, or 20.67 percent.
Hall turned 89 years old earlier this month and is the oldest member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He has served in Congress since 1980.
Gigliotti is best known for having won three racecar championships during his career. This was his first political race.
Clark, a former telecom executive, is a graduate of Southern Methodist University who later served in the U.S. Air Force. He speaks Chinese and Spanish fluently. Now a businessman, he formerly taught government at San Antonio College.
Dr. John Cooper of Sulphur Springs had filed early this year as a candidate to run against Hall, but later withdrew from the race.
District 4 includes all or parts of 16 counties in Northeast Texas, including a large portion of Collin County. It stretches eastward from Collin and Grayson counties to the Louisiana state line.
