Joel Lilavois, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and coach passed away June 29, 2012 unexpectedly.
Joel was born August 3, 1955 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Marie and Jules Lilavois.He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, two sons Phillipe and Jordain of Plano, Texas, two daughters Monique Tirado of North Carolina and Bianca Lilavois of Plano, Texas, and four brothers, Frantz of Long Island, NY, Pierre of Queens, New York, Ralph of Ft Lauderdale, FL, Jimmy of Jacmel, Haiti and sister Gina of Ft Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joel grew up in New York City and graduated from Benjamin Cardozo High School, where he played soccer and was named all-city. Joel grew up playing soccer for the Hota-Bavarians Youth Club in New York and played collegiate soccer at Oneonta State University, a Division I program. After college, he played professionally for Hota-Bavarians and Bergen Kickers in New York. Joel is well known throughout North Texas as one of the top personal skills development trainers. He has conducted skills development and training sessions for various teams and individuals in the North Texas area for over 20 years. He recently became involved with Play It Forward, a nonprofit organization to develop soccer players in his native Haiti.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in the Brooks Family Chapel at North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. Memorial Mass: 10 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5100 W. Plano Parkway, Plano, TX 75093.
