Celina EDC sets achievable goals

The Celina Economic Board of Directors determined at their June 25th work session that the EDC website needed to be refurbished and updated.
EDC board member Lance Poole reported on his research of other EDC websites and suggestions on how to improve Celina's EDC website.
Available land sites, traffic counts and utility availability also need to be included in the website.
The page must have an explanation of what an EDC does and constantly updated information on Celina's communities and events. The content should be easily accessible for updating.
Board member Doug Dillon said, “Selling Celina is also driven by what you've already got on the ground. You really have to look at where your infrastructure will support development. Infrastructure drives development.”
CEDC Executive Director Corbett Howard reported on the meeting he and CEDC President Kyle Rose had with Jim Gandy, the director of the Frisco EDC.
Gandy advised to clearly define the role of the Celina Economic Development Corporation and its board and how it relates to the city and development in the city
He suggested developing an incentive package to attract business and developers to Celina. He also said the board needs to create achievable goals. Gandy said small steps lead to bigger steps.
“The website is critical,” Howard said. “We need to make it simple and easily navigable.”
City Councilman Todd McCally said there are constant web searches for Collin County land.
“We're missing out. We're going to lay it out for them like a buffet,” he said.
Transportation is another area the board will work on. Current traffic counts are needed along with completion of roadways.
The board also plans to work on improved communication with the website, newsletters and quarterly reports to the city council.
