Detectives from the Plano Police Department believe they know who took two children from a Plano home last week, but they remain unable to contact the children's family to confirm their suspicions.

Brittnae Hutchisson, 14, and Brandon Hutchisson, 4, were reported missing from a foster home on July 11. Officer David Tilley of the Plano Police Department said detectives believe the children were taken by their father, Robert Hutchisson, and may be in Grayson County near Lake Texoma. So far, no confirmed sightings have been made.

"We don't think they are still in the Plano area, but there is always the potential they could be anywhere," he said. "Because we can't get in touch with the father or any other family member to get confirmation that the kids are safe and are with them, we are still concerned about their whereabouts."

Tilley said the children were removed from their home in Grayson County and placed in a foster home in Plano by Child Protective Services. He said there is no proof that a crime has occurred, but the department is still looking for the children since there is a possibility they were abducted by a stranger.

One of the problems the department has faced is that it cannot utilize the national Amber Alert system since the case doesn't meet the system's qualifications.

"All that we have so far is that children were taken without the permission of their legal guardian, which in this case is the foster parents," Tilley said. "One of the criteria that must be met for an Amber Alert to be issued is that the child is in immediate of danger of sexual assault, death or serious bodily injury. We have to be able to articulate the fact that they are in danger."

Police have identified two vehicles that may be related to the case. The first is a green 1997 Chevrolet pickup with Texas license plate AF 11297. The second is a white Dodge Dakota pickup with handicapped Texas plate 5ZZPX.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the children is encouraged to call the Plano Police Department at 972-424-5678.
