National Alliance on Mental Illness Program

Severe mental illness affects individuals, family members and society.
Community Unitarian Universalist Church will offer a 4-lesson series presented by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) beginning on Wednesday, July 11th.
July 18, 7:00 p.m. – “Mental Illness 101” – Have you ever wanted to learn the facts about mental illness? This lesson provides an easy to understand overview of major depression, bipolar, and schizophrenia disorders. An overview of a variety of community resources that offer treatment will be provided.
July 25, 7:00 p.m. – “In Our Own Voice” – In Our Own Voice(IOOV) is a unique public education program developed by NAMI, in which speakers share compelling personal stories about living with mental illness and achieving recovery. Throughout the IOOV presentation you will be encouraged to offer feedback and ask questions.
August 1, 7:00 p.m. – “NAMI Dallas Interfaith Partners Program” – NAMI Dallas Interfaith Partners is a volunteer group which advocates for persons with mental illness within their faith communities. It is non-sectarian and fully respects the individual choice of those who seek treatment without imposing spiritual commitment or religious beliefs.
