Celina area residents will have an opportunity to speak their minds at Celina Speaks this evening at 6:30.
The town hall meeting will be held in the First United Methodist Church at 112 North Colorado Street behind the Celina library. The City of Celina is in the process of purchasing the Methodist church building.
The city council and Foreman will discuss the city's overall goals and what effect continual growth is having on Celina.
The plans for road maintenance over the next five years will be discussed, including plans for new roads to be built within city limits and the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction or ETJ.
Construction phases of Preston Road will also be discussed.
The city's various plans are being updated. Information will be presented on what phase that project is in, including the master plan, thoroughfare plan and water and sewer plan.
There will be an update on the status of the Light Farms subdivision.
The program also includes the purchase of the city hall building and the new businesses that have opened such as McDonald's, Dickie's and the Turquoise Firefly.
Celina area residents will also have an opportunity to speak to council members and city staff about whatever issues are on their minds concerning the city.
“The city is having Celina Speaks to involve all of the citizens of Celina in the city's plans for the future,” Foreman said. “This mayor and city council feel it is important to involve them in determining which direction the city is headed in the future.”
The town hall meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 9.
