On Wednesday, Plano West senior outfielder Billy McKinney was selected to play in the 2012 Under Armour All-America Baseball Game.
The game showcases 36 of the best high school players in the country competing in an American vs. National match-up. The players were chosen by a committee of Baseball Factory scouts.
The left-handed McKinney was a first team all-district selection at West this season.
"We first saw Billy at the Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament in January," said Steve Bernhardt, Under Armour All-America Game selection chairman and executive vice president of baseball operations at Baseball Factory. "He really stood out to our scouts and is one of the best all-around hitters in the class. It should be a fun match-up to watch when Billy faces some of the most dominating pitchers in his class."
The Under Armour All-America Game is set for 12:30 p.m. Aug. 18 at Wrigley Field in Chicago and will air live on the MLB Network.
