New design, new name in store for Chase Oaks Golf Club
From staff reports
The golf course formerly known as Chase Oaks is getting a complete makeover and now has a new name.
The Courses at Watters Creek, Allen's municipal golf course since 2004, is located immediately south of the Watters Creek development. It closed for renovation Oct. 1, 2011 and is set to reopen in November 2012 under its new name.
The course overhaul is being led by PGA Tour professional D.A. Weibring and acclaimed golf course architect Steve Wolfard. The improvements are intended to reduce the difficulty of the course, making it accessible to a wider range of skill levels.
The venue will include multiple courses appealing to a broad spectrum of golf abilities. The 18-hole course will be ready for the November re-opening. A new six-hole short course will also debut, laid out for new and casual players looking to ease into the game or beef up their short-course skills. The opening of an additional nine-hole course will follow in summer 2013.
