While some cities are content to relax in the summer, the city of Frisco isn't one of those cities. On Friday, Aug. 3, the city launched its annual "Frisco is a Treasure" competition, which encourages residents to search the city in order to achieve a grand prize valued at more than $1,500.

Radio Disney kicked off the event on Sunday, Aug. 5, by broadcasting at the Frisco Heritage Center from 2 to 4 p.m. The radio station will also close the event, announcing winners live at the Frisco Public Library at 2 p.m. Aug. 19.

To participate in the contest, residents merely have to visit eight of the 12 participating locations and receive a stamp on their treasure maps. The map, which includes a list of the locations as well as their hours of operation, can be downloaded at www.friscoisatreasure.com.

The grand prize for the Frisco is a Treasure competition consists of tickets to the State Fair of Texas, a Dallas Stars hockey game, a RoughRiders baseball game, a Texas Legends basketball game and numerous other prizes valued at a total of more than $1,500. Entries must be received by noon on Aug. 19.
