Third Frisco resident tests positive for West Nile virus
By Anthony Tosie, atosie@starlocalnews.com
The city of Frisco announced a third Frisco resident tested positive for West Nile virus earlier this afternoon. The resident lives in the southwest portion of the city in Denton County.
Because of the late confirmation, the city has not yet determined details for spraying the general area where the resident lives. The city's West Nile virus response plan requires spraying for mosquitoes to take place after local health department authorities confirm cases of the virus.
In addition to today's case, two previous cases have been confirmed in Frisco residents during the past three weeks -- one in Denton County and one in Collin County. Spraying for the second confirmed case will take place from midnight tomorrow through 6 a.m. Thursday. That area is bordered by F.M. 423, Smotherman Road, The Trails Parkway, Old Newman Road and Dowelling Drive.
