Highland Village Council continues discussion on budget
From staff reports
At Tuesday’s Highland Village City Council meeting, the council discussed the 2012-13 general fund budget with the staff, this meeting focusing on the special revenue funds including the Corps Leased Parks fund, the Drainage Utility Fund, the Capital Projects Fund and the HVCDC (4B) Fund.
An enhanced emphasis on maintaining fiscal sustainability over an extended outlook continues to frame the budget discussion.
Budget discussions will continue at the Aug. 14 meetings, followed by the formal presentation of the city manager-recommended budget at the Aug. 28 meeting. A public hearing will be conducted at this meeting, as well as the Sept. 11 meeting to obtain public input. Concurrently, the proposed budget will be posted on the city’s website.
Included in the site plan is the construction of an 8-foot sidewalk on the north end of the property which will connect with the sidewalk to the east of the property and eventually connect to the property to the west when it is developed.
The Dental Depot facility and the water tower were constructed in 2006. The site plan was presented to and unanimously approved by the Planning & Zoning Commission at its July 17 meeting.
During the city manager’s report, the HVTV Update informed residents of the upcoming Back to School Lift Off to be held at the Shops at Highland Village on Aug. 7 from 6-9 p.m.
This event, sponsored by the Highland Village Lions Club, The Shops at Highland Village and the City, will feature a single balloon glow, a kids zone, music, food and a car show. The Highland Village Lions Club Balloon Festival will take place the weekend of Aug. 17-19. Details are available at www.hvballoonfest.com.
