Ima Jean Reynolds' quick and beautiful smile, hearty laugh, and comforting spirit passed from our presence peacefully on the morning of August 12, 2012. She went to her heavenly father sooner than we had expected, but God is merciful and saved his loved one from the suffering ahead.
Ima Jean was born on August 21, 1937 in Altus, OK to A.B. and Esta (Phillips) Butts.She married Claude Earl Reynolds on November 30, 1956 in Bogata, TX.
Ima Jean is survived by her loving husband Claude Reynolds, daughter and son-in-law Deneen and Keith Christian of McKinney, and son and daughter-in-law Eric and Cassie Reynolds of Norcross, GA. She is also survived by grandchildren, KrisAnn and Curtis Christian, and Adelaine, Brody, Audrey, Amelia and Braylon Reynolds, her brother Billy E. Butts and his wife Carol L. Nicholson, her sister-in-law Sharon Davison and husband Claude Davison, her sisters-in-law Nancy Butts and Jeanette Butts. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Ima Jean was a devoted wife, loving mother, generous grandmother, caring sister and faithful friend. Claude and Ima Jean made their home in Sulphur Springs from 1964 to 1998. They retired in McKinney in 1998.
Ima Jean dedicated her life to serving others, opening her home to family, friends, young people who needed a temporary home and hosts of others on all types of occasions. She was a well-loved member of the High Pointe Church of Christ, a member of DAR, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels in McKinney. In Sulphur Springs, she was a Sunday School teacher and involved member of the League Street Church of Christ. She was also a member of Medical Auxillary, Community Bible Study, Community Concerts, PTA, Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts and many other community groups. In retirement Claude and Ima Jean enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family.
A memorial service was held August 15, 2012. Memorials can be made to Camp Deer Run "campership" fund or the charity of your choice. Camp Deer Run's address is 1227 CR 4590, Winnsboro, TX 75494.
