Swimming: Carroll Open Water Club wins state

Carroll's Open Water Swim Club yet again captured the Texas State Championship on the strength of having its five swimmers, pictured, place in the top six. It is the sixth consecutive year Carroll has won the open water title. The 2012 version included Ted Singley, Austin Johnson, Jonathan Roberts, Matthew Barnhart and Carson Klein. Singley, meanwhile, captured the overall title for a second consecutive year in addition to taking first in the high school division, where he was followed by Roberts in second.
Carroll parents swam well, too, with Lynn Barnhart taking second in her age group and Catherine Singley taking first for women in the wetsuit category. More than 225 participants competed in the race.
