Plano ISD scrimmages to aid charitable cause

Published: Wednesday, August 22, 2012 4:57 PM CDT
Friday's trio of Plano ISD football scrimmages will span beyond the results on the field.

All three scrimmages will be collecting money for "Our Day to Shine." The money comes from both schools participating and is either collected as admission or a helmet will be passed around during the game to collect money from fans in attendance.

Proceeds benefit the THSCA Benevolence Fund, which is used to assist athletes and coaches with special needs, injuries or hardships. Over the past few years, participation in the cause has spanned over 740 schools with over $195,000 being raised.

The scrimmages begin at 9:30 a.m. when Plano East hosts Hebron from Kimbrough Stadium. Later that night at 7 p.m., Plano Senior will take field at Kimbrough to meet Mesquite and Plano West will hold its scrimmage at 7:30 p.m. from Clark Stadium where it meets Highland Park.
