Missing Plano woman found at DFW Airport

The woman who disappeared from her Plano home Friday afternoon was found Sunday evening at DFW Airport.

Airport police responded to a medical call at around 5 p.m. and found Janice Klein, 47, disoriented in a restroom in Terminal D. Klein initially gave officers a false name, but allowed them to transport her to a local hospital to receive medical attention, said Plano PD spokesman David Tilley. After taking her to the hospital, the officers saw Klein's photo on a local newscast and contacted Plano PD, which sent detectives to the hospital so a positive identification could be made.

Tilley said it is still unknown how Klein got to DFW since she left her car keys, phone and purse at home prior to disappearing. He said since there is no sign of foul play, police involvement in the case is likely over.

"Our initial case was that of a missing person. Since that person is no longer missing, that case is closed," Tilley said. "We have not had any indications or reports of criminal activity, so our investigation is over until we are told something different. The family is focusing on getting her health back to normal and we are going to respect their privacy."

Up to 1,000 volunteers searched for Klein on Saturday and Sunday.

Tilley said the department was grateful for the hard work done by the volunteers, and that without them and the media's help in spreading the word about Klein, she might still be missing.

"This search party was absolutely incredible," he said. "Hats off to the family and Custer Road United Methodist Church for organizing a search party that ran like a well-oiled machine. Being a Plano native, to see our community come together like this was inspiring to say the least. It does your heart good to know that several of these people gave up their weekend to go in chigger-infested woods and 100-degree temperatures to go search for someone they don't know."

After Klein was found, Plano Police Chief Greg Rushin was also complimentary of the search team, saying the extreme daytime temperatures increased the level of concern and urgency with which the search was conducted.
