During his years of active practice in Texas the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) (Ft. Worth) was born. He was one of the early promoters of this endeavor and worked diligently toward helping bring the college to life.

He was also one of the Texas Osteopathic Physicians instrumental in promoting the certification of general practice as a subset of osteopathic medicine. He was the first general practice physician to be awarded certification in his chosen field. Over a lifetime of community and professional service he was recognized with numerous national and state awards and honors.
