Telephone town hall meeting to be held Monday
Staff reports
All you need is a phone to attend the city of Frisco's next town hall meeting. The town hall meeting will be held Monday, August 20 at 7 p.m. Frisco residents should dial 888-409-5380 to join the Town hall meeting. Frisco's registered voters will also receive a phone call Monday night, inviting them to join the meeting.
As always, residents are also welcome to attend in person. The meeting will be held in the council chambers of City Hall at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center, located at 6101 Frisco Square Blvd.
Staff will brief residents on two major road reconstruction projects involving Stonebrook Parkway, the city's response to West Nile virus and the proposed budget for the next fiscal year. Residents will have the opportunity to ask questions in person or by phone. The question-and-answer portion of the meeting will follow staff presentations.
In March 2011, 2,528 people joined the city's first telephone town hall meeting. Three telephone town halls later, 3,791 people joined the meeting in March 2012. Frisco has hosted four meetings with the telephone format since implementing the practice. In each case, callers stayed on the line for an average of 8 to 10 minutes. The number of people who attend in person continues to range from 150 to 200 people.
A limited number of Frisco drink tumblers will be given to residents who attend the meeting in person on a first-come, first-served basis.
Frisco's town hall meetings last approximately two hours and are typically held three times each year.
