Casting call for 'The Lead' set
Students in tenth- through twelfth-grade are invited to audition for student news anchors to host "The Lead," a monthly newscast featuring Lewisville ISD students. Auditions will be held Thursday, Sept. 13 from 3:30-5 p.m. at Career Center East. Three student news anchors will be selected.

ACT recently issued Lewisville Independent School (LISD) District's College Readiness report. Five-year trends reflected in the report show that the average ACT score of LISD graduates has increased over time and consistently beaten the state.

"These numbers are an excellent representation of the great work our campuses are doing to prepare graduates to enjoy thriving, productive lives in a future they create," LISD Superintendent Dr. Stephen Waddell said. "Difficulty of the exam has increased annually, still we continue to show progress and beat state averages. I hope to see these numbers rise even further in the coming years as a reflection of our work on Strategic Design."
According to ACT, this report reflects the achievement of graduates on the ACT and is an indication of the extent to which they are prepared for college-level work. The ACT consists of curriculum-based exams of educational development in English, mathematics, reading, and science designated to measure the skills needed for success in first-year college course work.

MHS homecoming

Destination Imagination open house
The buzzwords for success in the third millennium are creativity and teamwork. Children who join Destination Imagination (DI) teams will learn these skills in a fun environment where they can team up with students their own age on a challenge of their choice.
LISD sponsors DI for all of its students in kindergarten through 12th grade. It is a school-based, extracurricular program designed to meet the needs of students at all academic levels.
LISD's annual DI Awareness Nights - with lots of fun DI activities - are planned to kick off the new DI season. All interested LISD students, parents and faculty are invited to attend either or both at no cost. Both events are from 7-8:30 pm. There will be an event Sept. 20 at Lamar Middle School and one Oct. 2 at Creek Valley Middle School in Carrollton.
For information about Destination Imagination or the above events, contact the LISD DI facilitator, Robin Napier at 469-948-8201 or napierr@lisd.net.
