William Fry Hughes
William Fry Hughes went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 11, 2012, surrounded by his family.
William was born March 23, 1926, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, to John D. and Lena (Fry) Hughes.

He married Jacqueline Bly on November 23, 1947.

William was a graduate of Pocahontas High School and Ouachita Baptist University.

He proudly served in the United States Navy from June of 1944 until May of 1946.

He retired from Sandoz Pharmaceutical as regional sales manager after 37 years.

After retirement, William was a facilitator for the Baptist General Convention of Texas Lay Renewal Weekends. He also did short term mission work in China in 1988 and 1990 and Partnership missions work in Australia in 1989. In addition, he was active in the prison ministry and volunteered with BGCT and Mission Service Corp for many years. He was a Deacon Emeritus at First Baptist Church of Plano and Mission Service Corp Emeritus.

William was a member of Hunter's Glen Baptist Church in Plano.

William was known for his love of life, love of God, and love of family. He enjoyed traveling, working in various Christian ministries and serving his church.

He is survived by his daughters, Pam Tarbutton and husband, Pete of Brenham, Texas and Rhonda Dickson and husband, Ricky of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Matt Tarbutton and Spc. William Tarbutton; great-granddaughter, Jackie; grand-dogs, Molly and Bear; sister, Mary Elliott and husband, Don of Silver City, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen. Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6-8 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Gideon's International Bible Fund.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Sunrise Assisted Living of Plano where they took care of him and the family with such love.
