The Lewisville Fire Department responded to an apartment fire that resulted in no injuries, but damaged six apartments.

The fire began around 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Cambridge Village apartments located on the 1400 block of N. Valley Parkway. According to officials, first responders immediately called for a second alarm and eventually a third before bringing the fire under control.

"We have a protocol in place when the outside temperature is high," said LFD Division Chief Steve Carter. "Because the temperatures were high that day, extra firefighters were called in to help."

Carter said firefighters extinguished the fire by 10:15 a.m. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.

Residents in six apartments were displaced due to smoke and water/fire damage, Carter said. He said the fire appeared to start on the second floor, and fire crews were able to contain it to that floor.

Carter said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
