Golden Grip Gymnastics, which is based in Plano, started the season strong.
The team's next competition, the 2012 Rising Stars Meet at WOGA in Frisco two weeks ago, may have set the bar even higher.
"The girls improved on their scores from the first event," said Marina Tatarchina, Golden Grip head coach and owner, "so they really had a great meet."
The compulsory team was a standout group again.
In the Level 3 category, Gracie Flores took first in the all-around competition, with a cumulative score of 36.50, after placing first on vault (9.6), first on the floor exercise (9.4) and third on bars (9.0). Flores finished two spots better in the all-around than Plano resident Alexa Shelton, who won gold on the bars (9.5) and beam (9.4). Other Golden Grip medal winners at that level included Sophia Flores, who finished second on floor (9.0) and Gabrielle Wallace, who took silver on beam (9.00).
The Level 3 squad, which also includes Chelsey Nunley, Lia Ross, Sally Ismael, Makenna Malone, Brently Barton, Ella Spicer, Ananya Chakravarthi and Natalie Savarese, won first place in the team category.
Level 4 brought home the hardware as well.
In the Placement division, Anna Ichiba took second on floor (9.5) and finished third in the all-around among 6-7 year olds. In the 8-year-old category, Carolyn Lindberg and Brooke Hudy posted their highest marks on floor with respective scores of 9.5 and 9.450. In the 9+ age group, Planoite Hannah Rhodes won the beam competition (9.4) and placed second on bars (9.250). Another Plano resident, Abagail Moriearty, scored a bronze medal on the vault (9.7).
Emma Lindberg led the way in the Level 5 Placement division.
Lindberg posted a combined score of 37.350 to win the all-around. Additional gold medals for Lindberg came on the vault (9.350), bars (9.6) and beam (9.5). She also finished third on floor (8.9).
In the Achievement division, Chancey Anderson took second on vault (8.350) with teammate Kymberly Davis one spot back (8.05). Anderson was also third on beam (9.0).
In the Level 6 category, Shelby Peterson procured a silver medal on vault (9.350) among 7-10 year olds. Te'ja Morgan received the same score on vault to finish second in the 11+ division and wrap up a successful trip to Frisco for Golden Grip.
There are, however, still plenty more competitions on the horizon.
"I am looking forward to a very successful season for all of our kids," Tatarchina said.
