Records: Mesquite-5-0 (1-0 in District 12-5A); Rockwall-Heath-4-1 (1-0)
Notes: This is the fifth time in school history that Mesquite has opened the season 5-0. In 1962 and 1971, it lost its next game, in 1975, it went 7-0 before falling and in 2001, the Skeeters went 15-0 on their way to the state championship. ... Rockwall-Heath has made a smooth transition thus far from moving up from Class 4A.
