11-5A FOOTBALL STANDINGS
Quick look: Despite what the non-district records were, the opening-week results went according to preseason prognostications, as expected playoff teams Sachse, Garland and South Garland all picked up victories to improve to 1-0.
Prior to the season, Friday's clash between Rowlett and Garland figured to be one of the biggest of the 11-5A season, and despite the teams' combined record of 2-7, the result could loom large at the end in the race for the playoffs and the district championship.
And while it is still very early in the district race, Sachse and South Garland could strike another blow toward turning a contender into a pretender when they face Lakeview and North Garland, respectively.
