Positions appointed by city council

Positions on several Allen board, commissions, committees and corporations were appointed by the Allen city council at its regular meeting on Sept. 25.


The council considered appointments to fill the expired terms and vacancies as part of its regular agenda. After conferring in executive session, the council announced the appointments, which were read by councilmember Robin Sedlacek.

In the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee, the council appointed Kathryn May to Place 2 and Dawn Blue to Place 4.

For the Board of Adjustments, Building and Standards Commission, and Signs Control Board, the council appointed Ken Berry to Place 2, moving him from alternate Place 2. The council also appointed Deborah Angell Smith to Place 4, and appointed Ron Alexander to alternate Place 2.

In the Central Business District Design Committee Board, the council appointed Michael Orr to Place 2.

For the Keep Allen Beautiful Board, the council appointed Kelly McDonald to Place 2, Mardy Brown to Place 4 and Kerry Craven to Place 6.

For the Library Board, the council appointed Diane Knaack to Place 2, Geoffrey Smith to Place 4 and Devita Widmer to Place 6.

For the Arts Center of North Texas, the council appointed Kathy Litinas.

The council also appointed Dr. John Connolly as Health Officer.

Other council appointments were as follows: George Chrisman, Rebecca Tudor and Tommy Baril were named to places 2, 4 and 6, respectively on the Community Development Corporation. Joey Herald, Michael Schaeffer and Greg Kennedy were named to places 1, 2 and 3, respectively, on the Economic Development Corporation.

Libby Jones, Rodrigo Vizcaino and John Holley were appointed to places 2, 4 and 6 on the Parks and Recreation Board. The Planning and Zoning Commission saw Barbara McNutt, Jeff Cocking and Robert Wendland appointed to places 2, 4 and 6. Matthew Grant, Jane Bennett and Steve Benson were named to places 2, 4 and 6, respectively, to the Public Art Committee.
