It was a good week for the Rowlett volleyball team.

Not only did the Eagles move in front of idle Naaman Forest on Friday with a sweep of Garland, but they also wrapped up a playoff berth after Tuesday's 25-16, 25-9, 25-23 victory over North Garland.

Rowlett improved to 8-1 in district play and it currently holds a half-game lead on Naaman Forest, which fought back from an early deficit to win in four games over Garland on Tuesday.

Sachse returned to action after its bye with a pair of solid wins. The Mustangs solidified their hold on third place on Friday with a 25-21, 25-12, 25-19 sweep of Lakeview and then took down South Garland on Tuesday to improve to 6-2 in 11-5A and keep their district title hopes alive.

If the Mustangs hope to vault into the conversation for the district crown, it will have to happen this week. Sachse will host 11-5A leader Rowlett on Friday and then take on second-place Naaman Forest on Tuesday.

The Eagles will also play a big match on Tuesday when they play Lakeview, who currently is holding down the spot for the fourth and final playoff berth.
