For the first half of the season, Sunnyvale was riding a wave of success it had not enjoyed in its short history.
On Friday, that came to a crashing halt.
Caddo Mills jumped to a lead in the second quarter and matched the Raiders score-for-score in the fourth to pull away for a 36-17 victory.
Sunnyvale drops its first game of the season, falling to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in 6-2A play, while Caddo Mills improves to 2-4 and 1-1 in district.
The defenses controlled the action in the opening quarter, with the lone score being a 22-yard field goal by Casey Crenshaw that gave the Raiders a 3-0 lead.
Caddo Mills responded in the second quarter, as Greene Hayden and Jacob Tillett each scored on touchdown runs to give them a 14-3 lead going into halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, Caddo Mills built on its advantage in the fourth with a 29-yard run by quarterback Damian Newby that stretched the advantage to 21-3.
Sunnyvale tried to rally, as Ryan Cottingame scored on a 29-yard touchdown run and then threw an 11 -yard touchdown pass to Josh Quinn, but Daxx Hill had the answers both times, scoring on runs of 11 and 69 yards to keep the Raiders at bay.
Sunnyvale will now turn its attention to Commerce in a critical district match-up.
