Police looking for additional indecency victims after arrest of Plano man

Published: Friday, November 9, 2012 3:17 PM CST
Plano Police Department Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying more potential victims of a Plano man who was recently arrested for indecency with a child.

D'Aundre Douglas, 22, was arrested last week but is currently out on bond from the Collin County Jail.

Police say Douglas, who ran an organization called Teens Inspiring Youth, had inappropriate discussions and relationships with children between the ages of 10 and 13 that he met at a neighborhood park. Reports of abuse came to light in June after one of the boys, a 15-year-old, opened up to staff at a summer camp in Colorado about the abuse, which he claimed happened two years ago.

It is believed that at least a few of the boys attended Robinson Middle School at the time of the alleged incidents, police said.

"We really hope that this is the extent of this and we don't have any more victims out there," said David Tilley, Plano PD spokesman. "But we are not going to make any assumptions because there is the potential the victims are embarrassed or afraid of coming forward."

The alleged events happened at a variety of locations, including an apartment complex in the 6300 block of Roundrock Trail, Tilley said. In one incident, Douglas, who the boys knew as D.J., allegedly made one of the boys touch his penis. At another time he allegedly forced a boy to expose himself to a group of children.

In October 2010, Douglas was issued a criminal trespass warning barring him from all Plano ISD campuses after he allegedly violated the district's visitor policy, district spokeswoman Lesley Range-Stanton said in a statement. This ban was expanded to all Plano ISD property in November 2010 after he was allegedly involved in a disturbance at a football game. Douglas was arrested after visiting a Plano ISD football game in violation of the criminal trespass warning in September 2011.

Range-Stanton said district officials were unaware of the allegations against Douglas related to his arrest. She said when administrators became aware of the allegations, they met with students involved in Teens Inspiring Youth and told them to discontinue any association with Douglas.

"Plano ISD administrators have researched any connection between the school district and this former student," she wrote. "The district has no official association with this person and he was never an approved mentor or volunteer."

Plano police ask anyone with information about Douglas to call Det. Kristina McClain at 972-633-6667.
