DISTRICT 12-5A VOLLEYBALL: Horn, Mesquite to meet to determine final playoff berth

Horn ended the season with a tough 25-8, 24-26, 25-22, 25-16 loss to Tyler Lee on Tuesday.
At the same time, Mesquite was taking care of business with a 25-21, 24-26, 25-21, 27-25 victory over Longview.
So after weeks of district play, the Jaguars and Skeeters will need a few more days to decide who will be the fourth and final playoff team from 12-5A after both finished the season with matching 4-8 records.
Both teams did what they needed to this past week. Despite the loss to Tyler Lee, Horn had taken down Longview in a three-game sweep on Friday to keep its playoff hopes alive.
Mesquite's path was more difficult but the Skeeters rose to the occasion when it mattered most. In addition to the win over Longview, Mesquite had also ended North Mesquite's postseason dreams on Friday with a 25-18, 27-25, 25-21 victory.
Rockwall-Heath completed its undefeated run through district play and as the top seed from 12-5A, will face Naaman Forest in the opening round.
Tyler Lee and Rockwall finished in a tie for second place with 9-3 records. Because the two teams split the regular season series, they will have a seeding match later this week to determine the second and third seeds.
The winner of that match will take on Sachse, the third seed from 12-5A, while the loser will face Naaman Forest.
