12-5A FOOTBALL STANDINGS
Quick look: Mesquite showed no signs of slowing down last week with its 56-10 victory over North Mesquite.
The Skeeters remain perfect on the season with an 8-0 overall record and a 4-0 mark in 12-5A. Mesquite maintains its one-game lead over Horn, which toppled Longview for the first time in school history to improve to 3-1.
However, the Skeeters have the head-to-head tiebreaker due to their victory two weeks ago, which could play big at the end of the season.
Rockwall, which had a rough go of things in non-district play, knocked off Tyler Lee on Friday to improve to 2-1 and take over sole possession of third place.
The Yellow Jackets can ill-afford to feel comfortable, though, as three teams are right on their heels.
After last week's loss to Horn, Longview is in the unfamiliar position of being stuck in a crowded pact at 1-2 along with North Mesquite and Rockwall-Heath.
Tyler Lee is 0-3 and although they are not out of the hunt, they will face a tough road to get back into contention, especially with a date with Mesquite on Friday.
Horn has a big game against Rockwall-Heath on Friday and with a win, can solidify its spot in the upper tier of the standings.
North Mesquite will hit the road to face Longview, with the loser of that game being put in the position of climbing an uphill battle back to the playoffs.
