DISTRICT 11-5A VOLLEYBALL: Rowlett wraps up district championship, Sachse finishes in third

There was plenty on the line on Friday when Rowlett took on South Garland with the sole possession of the district championship on the line.
Fortunately for the Eagles, the Colonels have struggled all year long and that continued as Rowlett rolled to 25-9, 25-11, 25-10 sweep.
That was the district finale for the Eagles, who had a bye on Tuesday. Rowlett will take on Horn, the fourth-place team from 12-5A, in the opening round of the playoffs.
The Rangers were able to hold off Sachse, which had defeated them last Tuesday to move to within striking distance of second place.
The Mustangs picked up a pair of victories, capped with a 25-6, 25-11, 25-19 win over North Garland on Tuesday.
Sachse finished with a 9-3 record but was unable to catch the Rangers.
Lakeview earned the fourth and final playoff berth in dramatic fashion with a win over Garland on Tuesday.
The Patriots lost the opening game before responding to even the match at a game each. The Owls appeared to gain momentum with a marathon 31-29 victory in game three, but Lakeview regrouped to take the final two games and avoid a tiebreaker situation.
The Patriots face a tall order in the opening round against 12-5A champion Rockwall-Heath.
Rowlett will take on Horn, the fourth-place team from 12-5A.
Sachse and Naaman Forest will have to wait to see who their upcoming opponent will be. The Mustangs will face the winner of a seeding match between Tyler Lee and Rockwall, while the Rangers will take on the loser of that match.
