DISTRICT 10-4A VOLLEYBALL: Poteet forces tiebreaker game with win over Newman Smith
By DEVIN HASSON, dhasson@starlocalnews.com
The entire season came down to one match for Poteet.
For the Pirates, the mission was simple. A victory over Carrollton Newman Smith on Tuesday meant they would force a tie for fourth place and they would keep their playoff hopes alive.
The teams split the first two games, but Poteet dominated down the stretch for a 25-15, 23-25, 25-7, 25-12 victory.
Highland Park completed its perfect run through district play to earn the 10-4A championship and the top seed in the playoffs, where they will meet Frisco Liberty.
Carrollton Creekview is the district runner-up and will take on Frisco Heritage, the third-place team from 9-4A in the opening round of the playoffs, while Forney will play Frisco in the bi-district round.
