Plano doctor convicted of prescription fraud

Plano doctor Todd Clements, 43, was convicted on three counts of obtaining controlled substances by fraudulently issuing prescriptions and surrendered his license to practice medicine on Wednesday, Nov. 14, Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced today.
On Aug. 5, 2009, and March 1, 2010, Clements obtained controlled substances, Lisdexaphetamine and Zolpidem, by issuing fraudulent prescriptions, Willis' office said. Clements, who resided in Frisco, was a practicing doctor at Clements Clinic of Plano at the time of the incidents. Clements also practiced as a doctor at the Frisco Counseling and Wellness Center of Frisco.
Clements pleaded guilty to all three felony counts and permanently surrendered his license to practice medicine in Texas. He was placed on felony supervision in a specialized substance abuse caseload for the maximum period of ten years.
The case was investigated by the Tactical Diversion Squad of the Drug Enforcement Agency and prosecuted by assistant district attorney Lindsey Wynne. State District Court Judge Raymond Wheless presided over the case.
