There are so many things that will be up in the air at next month’s Celina Balloon Festival that the FAA has taken an interest in the event.

A rocket club will be launching their rockets during the 2 days of the festival, October 26 and 27.

Two helicopters will be giving rides and balloons will be launching if the weather is right. There will also be tethered balloon flights. Someone from Big Mike’s kites will be flying kites during the two-day event for the second year.

Celina Fire Department volunteer Dan Schlund will fly in on a jetpack at the festival to be held at Old Celina Park.

In case there aren’t enough objects in the air during the Festival of Flight the Radio Control Club will be flying very large model airplanes.

Two helicopters will be providing rides and a sky diving team that includes Prosper Police Chief Kirk McFarlin will be making a jump.

Live bands will be providing musical entertainment throughout the two days. Emerald City is among the bands.

Talley Amusements will provide the carnival rides.

There will be children’s activities, pet adoptions and a petting zoo.

Admission will cost $5.

“It’s the best value in entertainment you’re going to find,” said Celina Chamber of Commerce President David Whiteman. “For $5 there are a lot of things to see and do.”
