The city of Frisco has announced ground spraying for mosquitoes will take place Wednesday and Thursday as a case of West Nile virus was confirmed in an area of McKinney adjacent to Frisco.
Ground spraying will take place beginning at 10 p.m. each night and last until 6 a.m. the following days. Spraying will take place in the following subdivisions: Red Bud Estates, Winding Creek Estates, Custer Star Shopping Center, Frisco Heights, Stonelake Estates West and Villages at Willow Bay. A map of the areas to be sprayed can be seen here.
City of Frisco officials urge residents to practice four precautionary steps outlined by Texas Department of State Health Services commonly referred to as the "Four D's." These precautionary steps are: drain all standing water, dress in long sleeve clothing when outdoors, use mosquito repellants containing DEET, and avoid outdoor activities during night and early morning hours when mosquitoes are most active.
