Centennial sophomore Micaya White


The Lady Titans met a familiar face in their regional quarterfinals match Tuesday night.

Centennial took on district rival Heritage and it was one Lady Titan in particular that the Lady Coyotes won’t soon forget.

That’s because sophomore Micaya White led her team to a straight-set sweep (25-16, 25-18, 25-14) after finishing with a game-high 12 kills. White also chipped in one solo block and three aces from a serve that kept Heritage reeling for a majority of the night.

White’s strong performance earned Centennial a regional semifinals meeting against Lovejoy, which is in its first season at Class 4A after winning four straight Class 3A State Championships.

The two teams will square off in a 7 p.m. battle at Richardson Berkner tonight.
