Bobcats run the distance
The Celina cross country team had a short trip to take part in the Melissa Invitational this weekend.
The Bobcats were led by the second and third-place finishes by Ivan Torres and Luke Haynes, who crossed the finish line at 17:39.94 and 17:48.81, respectively.
Despite the top finishes of Torres and Haynes, the Bobcats didn’t finish in the team rankings after having only three runners participate.
Pilot Point earned top honors in the team standings with 51 points.
Meanwhile, the Lady Bobcats (225) came home with a tenth-place finish in the team standings after Stori Smith and Clare Medler led the way.
Smith was 13th with a time of 13:15.25 while Medler came in at 39th after posting a 13:56.97.
Melissa took first in the team standings with 67 points.
Both teams will be back in action Wednesday for the District 10-3A meet at Old Celina Park with a 9:30 a.m. start time.
