Gloria "Jean" Brown went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 13, 2012.

She was a devoted wife of 52 years, mother, and grandmother who loved to read, didn't know a stranger, and was her family's greatest cheerleader.

Born in Bloomington, Illinois, on May 1, 1944, to Arlene and John Naas, and married Bill Brown on May 27, 1960. They raised their family in Woodstock, Illinois, and moved to Allen, Texas, in 1999 to be closer to grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister Rosina "Rita" Allen; sister Patricia Pillow (Frank); brother Ron Nass (Peggy); John Naas (Judy); and James Naas (Sherry); husband Bill and children, Stacy Brown, Jeffrey Brown, and Michele Franke (Jon); and grandchildren, Elizabeth McDaniel, Savanah Brown, Mesa Brown, Will Franke, and Morgan Franke.

Her strength of character, courage, and heart was shown throughout her eight-year battle with scleroderma. To continue her mission to find a cure for scleroderma, memorials may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923.

Mrs. Brown's body was donated to UT Southwestern to be used in the research of a cure for scleroderma.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church of Allen, Texas.
