Many boys golf teams in the Metroplex had their final tournament of the fall semester last weekend when they competed Friday and Saturday at the Fast Freddy Invitational at Bridlewood Golf Course in Flower Mound.

The entirety of District 5-5A was in action, as well as programs from Southlake Carroll, Justin Northwest, Trophy Club Byron Nelson, Grapevine, Aledo, McKinney Boyd, Colleyville, Rockwall Heath, Richardson Pearce and Frisco Centennial.

While Byron Nelson (594) and Northwest (616) took the top two spots, Flower Mound's A squad finished third (618). Rounding out the team results was Southlake Carroll in fifth (624), Marcus A in eighth (640), Marcus B in 10th (646), Hebron in 12th (648), Coppell Red in 13th (657), Flower Mound B in 16th (671), Denton Ryan in 17th (677), Lewisville in 18th (695) and Coppell White in 20th (710).

Medalists included Flower Mound's Preston Beynon (182), Flower Mound's Julian Hayslett (183) and Coppell's Frank Gerome (183).

"We obviously wanted to win the whole thing," said David Snow, Flower Mound head coach. "But I was pleased with the way we played. We really had some good rounds on the second day. The course was set up a little different and was playing a lot longer on the first round. It was about as tough as it could play. But we did a good job and then took advantage on the second day."

Top individual performers were Flower Mound's Wes Hunt (148), Marcus' Cody Case (162), Coppell's Landon Moody (166), Hebron's Harrison Mahon (159), Lewisville's Trevor Proctor (155), Flower Mound B's Beau Miller (160), Marcus B's Dustin Lewis (162), Coppell's Matt Little (180) and Carroll's Cody Langmeier (164).

Snow was also impressed with the play of Valentin Staubli (158).

"Wes did a good job in finishing fifth," he said. "He's really been swinging the sticks well lately. But Valentin was just phenomenal and shot a 73 on the second day. That was his best round of the year and I was proud to see him step up."

The Lady Jaguars, meanwhile, were coming off a fourth-place finish at the Byron Nelson Tournament at Trophy Club. Fran Rodriguez paced the team in fifth, individually.
