12-5A BOYS BASKETBALL: Skeeters open district play with win over Rockwall-Heath

Mesquite continued its torrid run of late at the right time, picking up a victory in the 12-5A opener with a 80-63 win over Rockwall-Heath.
The Skeeters, who have won nine of their last 10 games, join Tyler Lee and Longview as winners on the opening day of district play.
Alex Cooper and Rashard Higgins fueled the Mesquite football team to an 11-1 record this season and they transferred that success to the court on Friday.
Horn was not as fortunate on Friday, as it dropped a tough 53-49 loss to Longview.
North Mesquite fell to Allen in non-district play.
The teams will compete in holiday tournaments this weekend before resuming 12-5A play next week.
