Rowlett completed a perfect run through the first half of the 11-5A season on Friday with a 61-54 victory over Lakeview in a battle of unbeatens.

The Eagles used a 23-5 run in the second quarter to take control, and behind 20 points from Dominique Oliver and nine from Taylee Alexander, was able to hold on in the second half.

Rowlett improves to 6-0 in district play while dropping the Patriots to 5-1.

Naaman Forest got off to a big start and made it hold up in a 52-46 win over Sachse to move into sole possession of third place. The Rangers are now 4-2 in 11-5A, while the Mustangs drop a game back at 3-3.

Sachse got out slowly and Naaman Forest took advantage with a 10-2 run to start the game.

The remainder of the game was nearly dead even, with the Mustangs even outscoring the Rangers in the fourth quarter, but they were unable to overcome the early deficit.

Monica Dorsey led all scorers with 21 points with Lorian Benjamin and Cynthia Matthews adding six each for Sachse. Kaitlyn Holly had 14 points and Micayla Buckner added 12 for Naaman Forest.

The Mustangs should have a good chance to rebound when the second half of the 11-5A season gets started on Tuesday as they play winless North Garland.

Rowlett will get a well-earned bye before it tries to continue its undefeated streak on Friday.
