By Kenny Green, kgreen@starlocalnews.com
A suspect is in the hospital after crashing his car while fleeing police Wednesday evening. Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday Mesquite Police responded to a suspicious person call in the 1100 block of Thistle Drive. The caller reported that the male occupant of a white Honda was the suspect in an offense in Garland. Mesquite police officers arrived on the scene three minutes later and attempted to interview the suspect, 28 year-old Scott Banks of Garland, but he immediately fled the scene in his vehicle. Officers pursued the vehicle onto U.S. 80.
Banks continued on U.S. 80 before proceeding south on I-635. He then collided with three vehicles just south of Gross Road as he attempted to drive between them. Banks lost control of his car and it overturned several times. Pursuing officers summoned medical assistance for him. Banks was transported to Baylor Hospital. The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured.
Banks is facing charges including evading with a vehicle and no insurance.
