Lewis Michael Wall, 52, of Plano, received a 40-year sentence on Friday for repeatedly molesting a child, Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced Monday.

According to trial testimony, Wall, the child's adoptive father, began molesting her when she was around 5 years old. The abuse began in Arkansas and continued when they moved to Georgia. When the victim was 16 years old, Wall and the victim moved to Plano and the sexual assault continued.

The victim told a friend's family in Plano about the abuse after she graduated from high school, and they reported the abuse to police. Wall was arrested on Sept. 29, 2010.

The jury returned a guilty verdict on Friday on two counts of sexual assault of a child, one count of indecency with a child and two counts of prohibited sexual conduct. The jury sentenced him to 20 years, the maximum sentences for four of the charges, and 10 years, the maximum for the indecency by exposure charge. The judge then stacked the prohibited sexual conduct sentences onto the sexual assault sentences, resulting in a 40-year sentence.
