Diane Lane Nichols, 49, found peace in Heaven on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, following a brave battle with cancer.
Her grace and caring spirit inspired so many as she lived and loved as a treasured wife, mother, daughter, teacher, sister, aunt, friend and animal advocate. With undying faith in the Lord, she taught us how to walk with Jesus, always lighting the path with her smile and laughter. Now God holds her close and provides the eternal comfort she offered so many here on Earth.
Survivors are her beloved husband, Todd; sons Drew and Dane; mother, Dorothy Cox; sisters Denise Duncan (and husband Jack and son Brandon Bienek) and Daryl Fox; uncle Horace and his wife Bonnie; aunt Jinny; and in-laws Bud and Marilyn Nichols, Brad Nichols and his daughters Tara and Tessa, and Susan Duggan and her children Heather and Ryan.
Diane graduated from Plano Senior High School and Texas A&M University with a degree in Special Education. She devoted her life to teaching children and ended her career as a loved first-grade teacher at McAuliffe Elementary in Highland Village, Texas. Her former students believe the first-graders of the Sandy Hook tragedy now have a wonderful first-grade teacher in Heaven.
Diane taught us all how to love life, to smile and laugh big, to care deeply for others, to suffer with complete grace, dignity and faith, and ultimately to love Jesus with all she had. What an inspiration! She ran her race well and won! To God be the glory.
Memorial services to honor Diane will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at The Village Church, 1700 Highland Village Road, Highland Village, TX 75077 (Highland Village Campus).
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org. or SPCA, www.spca.org, two of Diane's favorite charities.
