Home improvement: AEC to host home and garden show

Those in the market for design and décor can find a variety of options at the Allen Event Center next month when it plays host to the Collin County Home and Garden Show.
The show will take place the weekend of Feb. 15–17.
More than 200 vendors will be selling a range of home improvement products and services at the event, which is in its fourth year.
Allen businesses taking part in the event include the discount appliance store Rodenbaugh's and Allen Family Chiropractic.
Dallas-based Amazing Solar Solutions is also on the list of vendors. The company sells solar and wind power systems for homeowners and businesses.
This year's event will feature the addition of gourmet food trucks and a 3,000-square-foot outdoor exhibit area.
Show Technology Productions is behind the Collin County Home and Garden Show. The company will hold 26 similar shows across the country this year. After visiting Allen, it will host shows in Austin and San Antonio.
Dinah Beveridge, show manager, said the Collin County event benefits from the area's affluent market.
“Every person who comes to the show is a quality buyer,” she said.
Roger Hazard of A&E's reality series “Sell This House” will be hosting design and home staging seminars during the weekend. Hazard left “Sell This House” last year to start a new online furniture and accessories store, Decades.
Tickets for the show are $9.50, with discounts for senior citizens. Children 16 and younger and active members of the military will be admitted free. A coupon for $1 off admission is available at www.showtechnology.com.
A pair of non-profits will also take part in the show. A dollhouse will be raffled off Sunday, Feb. 17 to benefit Habitat for Humanity, and the Texas Adopt a Greyhound Society will be on hand to facilitate pet adoptions.
