Trinity Christian Academy ushers in the spring 2013 baseball season

Published: Thursday, February 14, 2013 4:25 PM CST
Trinity Christian Academy, Addison, welcomes an exciting new chapter in its baseball history.

This weekend the Trojans begin a tough four weeks of consecutive tournaments including road games at the Bryan/College Station, Carrollton/Farmers Branch and Highland Park tournaments sprinkled with games in between. This year's schedule is certain to toughen and challenge the young group of ballplayers that look to move closer towards winning a TAPPS state title.

The Trojans bring back strong starting pitching, returning seniors Westin Whitmire and Cody White.

Whitmire, who signed with D1 Davidson during the winter will also start at shortstop. An All District selection last year - White, will anchor the outfield in right. Also returning is All District selection Tanner Noakes at third. Noakes is to also see time behind the plate at catcher with sophomore John Lauck and brother Jackson Noakes, a freshman.

Senior Cooper McCutcheon will patrol the outfield in addition to being called on to throw strikes in middle relief duties.

Junior Trenton White, a versatile all around ballplayer who epitomizes the Trinity hard work, hustle and team first attitude, is being counted on to contribute offensively and defensively to the win column for the Trojans.

TCA brings to each contest a talented group of sophomores ready to contribute at the varsity level. Jack Denzer has won his spot at first base. In addition to Denzer and Lauck the team will need to see contributions from Will Whitmire and Hunter Lawrence. Good things are also expected from Noah Clark, a talented pitcher who will be counted on to also play outfield and produce offensively.

This year's Trinity Christian baseball team continues with the youth movement with freshmen lefty Zack McCutcheon projected to eat up some innings on the mound, and the versatile Alex Stigler battling the upperclassmen for time on the diamond.

The summer addition of Head Coach Don English was big news over the summer. The excitement and anticipation is due to Coach English's solid character and baseball accomplishments over the last 25 years, during which time he accumulated a record of 531 wins, 342 losses and 6 ties.

The Trojans will begin district play in March, competing in the always tough TAPPS 5A District 1.

Trinity Christian Academy baseball plays on Adair's field located at Trojan stadium, one of the premier ballparks in the area located conveniently off the tollway at 7001 Addison Road, Addison Texas.

Trinity enjoys a long tradition of successful athletic programs and has a history of state championships in many sports. Numerous athletes in a variety of different sports have gone on to pursue athletics at the collegiate level.
