Plano East in talks to host Florida team for 2013 football season

The Plano East football team may not have to worry about another double bye week after all.
The Panthers are in negotiations to host Venice (Fla.) for a non-district game, tentatively scheduled for Sept. 27 from Kimbrough Stadium.
A Class 7A school out of Florida, Venice's football program has been in existence since 1951 and captured a state championship in 2000. Last year, the Indians went 9-4 and received votes just outside the top-10 in the Florida AP state rankings all season long.
The matchup be a welcome boost for an East squad that failed to secure a 10th opponent last season and as a result, endured two consecutive bye weeks after starting its 2012 campaign at 4-0. Following the layoff, the Panthers went just 1-4 in District 10-5A.
An agreement to play in September is in place and a contract should be finalized in the coming days.
