Wilcox wants to keep serving

Published: Friday, February 15, 2013 4:33 PM CST
Two-term city council representative Charlotte Wilcox has filed to retain her Place 3 seat for Highland Village. She is currently unopposed. Candidates have until March 1 to announce intentions to run for office in the city council races.

Wilcox said serving is paramount to her. She touts her life-long residency in the area coupled with her accountability as the cornerstones to her candidacy.

"The thing about Highland Village that I love so much is it is the best place to live. We are the safest city to live in North Texas. We have the best parks and recreation department and the best police department, I believe, and I just want to make sure we continue that quality of life that we enjoy," Wilcox said. "We purchased the Doubletree Ranch during my first term, and I'd like to see that develop into a park that everybody in the city would be proud of. We're still working on the trails system. And then there is the issue of widening I-35. I want to see that through and done the right way, because that's going to affect all of us."

Wilcox prides herself as an office-holder that any of her constituents can approach with ease and candor.

"I am accessible and accountable," she said. "The people can pick up the phone and call me anytime. If I can do something to help and someone calls me I will do whatever I can to help them and I've had people tell me how much they appreciate that about me.

"Let's just cut to the chase and see what we can do to deal with a situation. I am a common-sense, no-nonsense representative."

Election day is May 11.
